</aside>
- The power grid works 24/7 for RVs and tent campers.
- Prohibited:
- Generators are NOT ALLOWED in KK camp!!! Not RV or standalone.
- DO NOT STOCKPILE FUEL OR GAS! EVER! See TRAFFIC - PULSING
- NO OPEN FLAMES allowed in pods!
- NO microwaves, hairdryers, air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers or other high power drawing appliances.
- AC units are PROHIBITED in Tent Camping
- Camp provides a kettle near the kitchen for heating water and hot showers.
- Camp will have a fire extinguisher in the kitchen only.
- Pods can have ONE electric kettle OR ONE electric burner for common use.
- We highly recommend that each pod bring at least one fire extinguisher.
- Each camper is required to bring their own 50-foot grounded outdoor-rated extension cord of 14 wire gauge or greater to extend power into their own tent. Like this one. A plug strip is also recommended for connecting multiple devices.
POWER GRID - Guidelines
- Electrical power is provided 24/7 during Burn Week by KK, with a string of 120V outlets every 10 feet on one side of each POD.
- Extension Cord Required:
- Each camper is required to bring their own 50-foot grounded outdoor-rated extension cord of 14 wire gauge or greater to extend power into their own tent. Like this one. A plug strip is also recommended for connecting multiple devices.
- Power Use:
- Each tent should draw no more than 100W at any time.
- There is no set amount, but limit your power usage to charging personal items, small fans including swamp coolers, and kettles
- Power is for inflating air mattresses, charging devices, illumination, running fans, CPAPs or other medical devices.
- Power is NOT for running major appliances such as refrigeration, air conditioning, space heaters, ovens, ranges, or BTC mining.
- Small cooking appliances are allowed in shared POD spaces, but they must be 1000W or less, disconnected when not in use, and operated safely.
- Conserving Power:
- Each POD will appoint a designated "lamplighter/extinguisher" to manage shared POD lights, and all campers should take responsibility for conservation.
- Swamp coolers are suggested for cooling tents.
- Electrical power should be conserved on playa, where it is generated by a diesel generator, which is one of the dirtiest and costliest means of generating electricity. Turn off lights during the day.
